Trees for Suffield

The Suffield Tree Committee, the Town of Suffield, and the Suffield Garden Club working together have established the Trees for Suffield Initiative. This initiative is a way to provide residents a tree canopy for generations to come.

Our job is to plant shade trees along the roads of Suffield, and our ultimate mission is the preservation of the character of our Town.

The Future. Trees can live for a long time, but they do not live forever, even when given the best care. Continuity relies on replacement of the old with new young trees. With consistent effort to Plant for Tomorrow, our graceful, tree-lined historic district will remain the shaded and beautiful scenic roadway we know today.

We Need Trees. Trees enrich our environment, provide shelter, reduce stress, lower energy bills and mitigate climate effects. And that’s not all. Trees make our Town more beautiful and that helps businesses and homeowners.

Help Us Grow – 1:1 Matching Grant. Double your impact! Every dollar you donate now will be matched up to $6,000 by a generous grant from Sustainable CT. Deadline for the match is October 31, 2025.

10-Year Tree Planting Plan

Through a grant made possible by the Amiel and Mary Anne Zak Public Service Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Suffield Garden Club partnered with Land Canvas Landscape Architecture to create a 10-Year Tree Planting Plan for use by the Suffield Tree Committee. The plan has been reviewed and endorsed by the Town, CTDOT, the Scenic Roadway Commission, and Eversource.

Tree Inventory

Through a grant made possible by the Suffield Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation, the Suffield Garden Club partnered with SavATree to update the Inventory of Main Street Trees in 2021 for use by the Town Tree Warden and the Suffield Tree Committee.
