Suffield Celebrates 350th with Parade Down Main Street
Suffield, Conn.: The Suffield 350th Anniversary Parade steps off at 10 a.m. on October 9th down historic Main Street, beginning at the intersection of Mapleton Avenue. The parade’s theme, Suffield: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, provided inspiration to the nearly 50 groups planning to take part in the festivities. Participants include representation, and in many instances floats, from town departments, schools, local businesses, farms, volunteer organizations, sports leagues and marching bands. 350th Parade Co-Chairs Melissa Finnigan and Pete Hill together stated, “While postponing for a year due to COVID-19 was a difficult decision, the extra time gave us the opportunity to plan an amazing parade that celebrates our beautiful town and will definitely be something to cheer about!” Information regarding participants, parade route and parking locations can be found here.
Founding sponsor PeoplesBank, formerly First National Bank of Suffield, serves as honorary co-chair for all 350th event including the parade.
Of note, Suffield’s HP Hood LLC will join the fun with a float and special treat for spectators as the dairy company commemorates its own 175 year anniversary. The Town of Suffield will showcase fire and ambulance along with a town hall float. Suffield Public Schools will feature three floats as well as the Suffield High School Band, Robotics and Regional Agriscience – FFA Chapter. Additional bands include the 102nd Infantry Band, The Great American Marching Band, Marquis of Granby Junior Ancient Fyfe & Drum Corps, Windsor Fife & Drum Corps, Windsor and Windsor Locks High School Bands.
