eQuality Valuation Services LLC and the Assessor’s Office have completed the State mandated revaluation effective October 1, 2023.

Notices of assessment are being mailed to property owners at this time.

PLEASE DO NOT CALCULATE YOUR TAX BURDEN USING THE NEW ASSESSMENT WITH THE CURRENT MILL RATE. THE 2023 GRAND LIST MILL RATE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL APPROVED AT THE MAY 2024 TOWN MEETING.

Property owners who would like to have their assessment reviewed with a representative of eQuality Valuation Services may book an appointment for a telephone hearing. Please call: 860-758-0555 or visit the eQuality website to book an appointment.

The Informal Hearing process is part of the Revaluation contract. Please reach out to eQuality rather than the Assessor’s Office at this step in the project. It is important that all questions and comments are directed to the valuation team.

Due to the number and complexity of exemptions, the following is intended only to provide a general idea of what is available. Please call the Assessor's office to discuss eligibility, details, and to submit an application.

The Grand List is based on vehicles registered on October 1st of each year.  If you dispose of a vehicle and DO NOT transfer the license plate to another vehicle between October 2 - August 31 of the following year, a credit can be allowed on the July bill.

CREDIT WILL BE ALLOWED ON MOTOR VEHICLE TAX BILLS ONLY WITH SUBMISSION OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS, ALONG WITH A PLATE RECEIPT:

• Copy of Bill of Sale
• Copy of Odometer Statement
• Copy of paperwork for new vehicle, showing previous vehicle used as trade-in
• Copy of new owner’s registration 
• Copy of out of state registration
• Copy of junk receipt
• Letter from insurance company indicating cancellation of insurance due to sale or total loss
• Documentation from insurance company indicating payment for total loss of vehicle and date of accident

NOTE: IF YOU NO LONGER OWNED THE VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 1, WE WILL DELETE THE UPCOMING BILL ON SUBMISSION OF THE ABOVE INDICATED PROOF.

Proofs can be mailed, emailed, faxed or hand delivered to the Assessor’s office. 

Section §12-63c of the Connecticut General Statutes requires all owners of rental real property to annually file this Income and Expense report.

All properties which are rented or leased, including commercial, retail, industrial and residential properties, except “such property used for residential purposes, containing not more than six dwelling units and in which the owner resides”, must complete this form. If a property is partially rented and partially owner-occupied this report must be filed.

The information filed and furnished with this report will remain confidential in accordance with §12-63c(b), which provides that actual rental and operating expenses shall not be a public record and is not subject to the provisions of Section §1-210 (Freedom of Information).

In accordance with Section §12-63c(d), of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended, any owner of rental real property who fails to file this form or files an incomplete or false form with intent to mislead the Assessor, shall be subject to a penalty equal to Ten Percent ( 10% ) of the assessed value of such property. 

All owners of taxable business personal property are required to file declarations of such property with Assessor of Town where property is located on October 1st assessment date. This declaration is due to Assessor’s Office by November 1st.  Failure to declare will result in a 25% penalty.
