Landfill, Trash and Recycling

The Town of Suffield has retained J.R. Russo & Associates as its Town Engineer. J.R. Russo & Associates is a professional site engineering and land surveying firm located in East Windsor. In this arrangement, the Town enjoys the benefits and resources of a full service site design firm providing consultation in matters related to land development, surveying and infrastructure.

Services provided are directed through our Engineering Liaison, Bill Hawkins, who is also the Town’s Director of Planning and Development. J.R. Russo is authorized to provide professional engineering consultation and advice to any town department, land-use commissions or their authorized agent. 

The Town Engineer assists with review of land use applications, preparation of written comments, and attendance at meetings. They will regularly correspond with Town staff to discuss design and site construction projects, drainage issues, grant administration for engineering projects, supervision of the pavement management program and corresponding projects, as well as other infrastructure maintenance and development projects as needed.

Highway Responsibilities:

• Maintenance of 80 miles of roads and paved areas including plowing, sanding, roadside mowing, sweeping, tree trimming
• Pot hole and curb repair
• Drainage improvements
• Care of 150+ acres of Town lawns, park fields, playing fields including mowing, weed control, planting, irrigation
• General and seasonal upkeep at Town parks, recreation facilities
• Building maintenance, repair and moving services at Town buildings
• Seasonal bulky waste pick-up
• Leaf drop off at Suffield Landfill
• Assistance to volunteer organizations for Town-wide functions
