It is the mission of the Suffield Police Department to safeguard life and property in partnership with the community. We strive to do so with honor and integrity, while conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards.

As we move forward, you will see that we are a progressive police agency embracing modern police practices and a community policing philosophy to improve our level of service. We believe this can be accomplished by working with you to prevent crime, solve problems, make arrests, and improve the quality of life in our community. Becoming one with our neighborhood(s) improves police service while enhancing crime prevention efforts to ensure a safe community for all.

Our Oath of Office
Every Suffield Police Officer raises their right hand and swears to the oath set forth below when they are hired by the Town of Suffield. People have been swearing oaths of allegiance and duty to leaders and ideas since the earliest of our time together as societies. The police oath of office is meant to invoke the spirit of commitment to our best ideals as protectors of society.

Below is the Script:

I, Officer John Harold Smith , of Suffield Police Department

do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, bear true allegiance to the State of Connecticut, the charter, laws and ordinances of the Town of
Suffield and to the best my ability, skill and judgment will diligently and faithfully, without prejudice, execute the oath of office as a Police Officer of the Town of Suffield, Connecticut.

• Appointment needed to submit application and supporting documents
• Fingerprinting at SPD by appointment only
• Additional fee of $70.00 required after all approvals and before releasing signed temporary State Pistol Permit
  • Checks payable to  "Town of Suffield"

All solicitors, hawkers, peddlers, salesmen and canvassers must obtain a permit from the Town of Suffield.
